    Thumbs up Diff breather

Hi, I have just serviced piña and changed all the diff oils etc.
There is now a leak in the front axles, on reading the forum I checked the diff breathers. They were both seized, just a heads up when changing diff oils to check your breathers. If anyone has a different design than stock could you please provide details. Are these units watertight.
    Cheers

The Rover ones have a steel ball that "seals" on a seat and gets gummed to it by oil-vapour and dust; so I agree with you that they should be checked regularly.

I take mine off and wash them in petrol when I change the engine oil - it doesn't take long.

However; in answer to your question they are probably not the best thing for wading. I notice my Disco has tubes running from the breathers to high on the car, which is a much better idea if you are going into water deeper than the axle,

    Cheers Charlie
