To Weld or Rivet or Sikaflex?

    Hello Series III Types,

Something caught my eye as I walked up to Baldrick, one of my Series III utes. I noticed that the passenger side mud guard at one point of time must have been pushed back and sideways a bit. When this has happened alloy skin has been cracked and torn away from a corner brace.

I have straightened the mud guard to closer to its original position however the tear is still bowing itself out.

What would be the best approach once I take the mud guard off to get at some rust in the fire wall near the heater box: welding, Sikaflex or a putting a couple of small rivets through the skin and into the corner brace?

I added another photograph that has some red arrows to show where the tear is. The tear is in a pretty awkward spot to work on.

    Kind Regards
    Lionel

Personally I would sikaflex and rivet but put some Ali angle behind it to give more support

    Rivets etc

    Lionel,

    Hello from Harare.

I would be inclined to use the Sikaflex/rivet/angle brace suggested before. The rivet head won't look out of place since there are already several above the spot. Not least, only a fanatic would notice it there.

    Cheers,
