    S3 seatbelts and roadworthy

    Hey guys
I'm looking to register my 1978 Series 3 Ute.
However the seatbelts that are installed do not retract properly and would fail roadworthy.
Did the 1978 model come with seatbelts or can i just take them out for the roadworthy?

I looked at repco and was told the generic seatbelts that they sell would not work. They sent me to MR Automotive who told me they don't sell seatbelts and to check at repco

Any ideas where i can get working seatbelts (if i even need them?)

    Thanks

A 78 model will definitely require seatbelts - while most cars of the time would have inertia reel auto retract three point belts I think commercial vehicles like a series 3 would have been fitted with non retracting lap sash belts. Repco most likely only carries more modern belts but I am sure they could order them.

The middle seat has the lap sash belt but the other two seats have 3 point belts.

The red circles are where the seatbelt was mounted on the driver side, with the last point mounting at the base of the seat.

    Order some from the UK.

Land Rover Series 2, 2A and 3 Seat Belts | Paddock

Two inertia lap/sash & one static lap.

They are a generic unit and come with a few extra washers & bolts. I have a set that will be fitted to my series III.

I got them along with some other parts so don't know what the shipping cost.
Bear in mind that inertia reel belts will cost you $120 + locally (new) each.
Create an account with paddocks, select the parts, order then they will email you with the all up costs and usually three options of shipping.

I have a surplus set of inertia belts that I bought from Paddock. I cant seem to get them to fit my series 2.
Give me a ring if you still need a set.

    Repco do/did sell them

    Hello from Bulawayo,

My 1975 Series 3 88" came standard with inertia belts for the driver and LHS passenger. I am pretty sure that these were mandatory from about 1974 on.

I bought my replacements from Repco about a year ago.

Be careful with UK sourced belts - they may not actually fit without an adaptor for the reel fitting which I understand is no longer readily available (wasn't when I was looking into it).

    Cheers,

I recently registered my 1976 S3 ute with seatbelts from Repco. I just took an old one in with me to make sure I got the stork length right. Make sure you order a left and right. The centre lap sash belt was replaced as well. They were not cheap at about $130 each from memory.

    Cheers
