    72 Series 3 Station Wagon

Hello everyone, I've recently bought a 1972 Series 3 station wagon for $400 with a Ford 250 pre-crossflow and a celica 5 speed in it. I'm wondering where the money is at with the 5 doors whether I keep it Ford powered or put a 2.25 and 4 speed in it? What are they worth registered and unregistered? I've never owned one till now and I'm wondering what they're worth.

Pristine condition maybe up to around $5,000.
Check eBay and Gumtree to get an idea of prices. A few turn up from time to time. Should give you some idea.

    Here's one: (This one's a troopy) http://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/coffs...x4-/1046352539

It is most likely to have been a six cylinder if local production. In my time at Leyland Truck & Bus we never received a four banger Series III wagon, only sixes.

Yep its still a 4WD, I think its a Hilux transfer case just by looking at the shift pattern. Here's a few pictures to get an idea of my new toy.

Just looking at the bulkhead it looks like a 4 cylinder but I haven't had enough time to compare it to my other series 3. I've got some photos on the other thread of the same name (posted the thread twice because of the bloody patchy interweb coverage) I'm thinking of giving it a good clean and seeing what the paints really like and I'll clean it up a bit. The chassis is rust free except for the left dumb iron which has a bit in it. All the electrics work but will need a new flasher unit and some new globes cause the old ones are pretty dull and some new windscreen rubbers. Thats just the quick cheap jobs. My main issue is the motor was never passed by an engineer even though its pretty well done. My plan was to pull the ford motor and the gearbox, drop in a 2.25 and 4 speed and get it registered and make a bit of money selling it, but if I can just clean it up and make it better than it is now I might sell it unregistered cause I'm after a Falcon ute more than a station wagon at the moment. As far as price goes your lucky to find a rough unregistered series Landy in WA for less than $1000

I'll write down the chassis number when I get some spare time and I'll post it, gave the old wagon a bit of a tune up and clean and she's got some power! Not bad for an old carby motor, just need the plugs tightened cause they were hand tight and washed all the dirt off and took the roof rack off to then take the tropical roof off and pull the dent in the roof. She's got a alternator that works now and just needs a few globes and a flasher unit to take care of all the lights.
