    Toro Overdrive Troubles

    Hi all,

I recently put a toro overdrive on my '79 SIII 109. I got it reconditioned by a gearbox shop before putting it in, and it was working fine on the bench - pull the selector shaft forward and the input and output gears turned at 1:1, push it back and the output turned faster. However, once installed, the selector shaft would only go between neutral and engaged (i.e. the overdrive stick was forwards), then got stuck in engaged all together with no movement fore or aft.

Does anyone have any suggestions as to why this might be happening? I tired loosening off the detent balls to see if that would allow movement, no dice. my next guess is that when the OD was reconditioned, the endfloat was set differently, so maybe the selector fork is too far forward or backwards on the shaft?

    Cheers

I've no experience with the Toro overdrive but a few trouble shooting notes in the manual here.

Interesting that it shows as Bearmach, same logo as the aftermarket LR parts supplier.
