Hi,
After replacing the spark plugs, leads, points, condenser, rotor and cap and putting a rebuild kit through the carby, the landy is now miss firing at idle, though not miss firing on one cylinder, seems random.
When its under load (driving off from a stationary position) it misses a lot and has very little power.
Could this be an air leak in the carby or inlet manifold? or have I lost compression in the cylinders? Ive had a look at the spark plugs they are not wet, but are very black.
It was running really well before I decided to replace a few things, I've had the S3 for about a month.
Cheers,
Jasiah

Recheck all the things that you have done............point gap, firing order, timing, carby. If the plugs are very black I would suspect carby.

Thanks for all the suggestions, will recheck what i've done and do a compression check this weekend, will let you know how I go. Will check / adjust the inlet and exhaust gap as well.
So I have double checked all that I have done, everything seems correct.
I noticed my coil is designed to have an external resistor (use with resistor is written on the coil) but I cant seem to find one, are they easy to spot? or has the wrong coil been installed?
It also gets really hot to touch after about 15mins of running the engine. I also noticed the contact points have corrosion on the outside but no pitting at this stage (new contact points about 1month old)

It should have a 12v not 8v (resistor) coil. It is possible that there is a resistor in the form of the lead to the coil, but I would bet it is simply the wrong coil, and this could be the problem. Using this coil will cause excess current draw, which will not do the points any good, but will also overheat the coil as you comment, and this is likely to have caused the coil to start failing internally.

Sounds like the coil has died. There are two types of coils ie 12 volt and 8 volt use with resistor type. If your coil has been getting 12 volts it will die quickly and overheat.
I would replace it with a good quality 12 volt coil after you check the voltage at the coil. Most coil resistors are big and visible but some can be wired into the loom and hard to find.So its easier to check the supply voltage at the coil
Thanks John,
It's definitely a 12v coil (without resistor).
I had a look at the wiring diagram and there doesn't seem to be a resistor in the loom.
Ill have to track down a 12v (resistor) coil and see how that goes.
Check the oil in the carby dash potI had one once upon a time, loverley smooth engine when running well. They go like a hairy goat when the carby runs low on oil.

Changed over the coil, runs great now! Thanks for all the help.
Also installed an Accuspark electronic ignition kit. Very happy with the engine now.
