    Can the forum please tell how the bearing RTC 324 Steering Column Bearing comes out ?

    Craig,

    With difficulty for quite a few folks from my reading of various threads..........

    Here is an example:series 3 LR steering column top bearing replacement.

    However, the above thread also suggested that for a couple of instances the real issue for play in the upper column was not the bearing so much as the spring between it and the steering wheel.

    A common issue that people seem to come across is poorly made pattern part replacements for the bearing that they manage to destroy while trying to fit them. One piece of advice I seem to recall from one UK site was that it was easier to remove the whole column, upend it and fit the bearing up from underneath without the inner shaft rather than trying to drive it down from the top with the shaft in place.

    Can't comment on that because that is still on the to do list for now.

    I can say from experience that those top bearings you buy are sometimes rubbish! I destroyed 1 doing my column.

    To get it out I used a broomhandle from the opposite end (had the steering box stripped off at the time.

    Good spary of WD40 and then you may use nut freeze!!
