Series 3 Brake assembly: help needed

    Hi all,

Was in the process of replacing my hub seals when I noticed the brake assembly was leaking brake fluid. I have the part, now I need to know how to block the brake line, and bleed the brakes. Help would be greatly appreciated

use a brake hose clamp on the flex line.

bleedings pretty simple but takes 2 people to do effeciently.

if you work quickly smartly you dont even need to block the line get everything cracked and loose, block the line with your thumb, change the cylinder and put the line back on first.

    easy.

bleeding is done once you have the rest of the system back together, make sure the MC is full, pump the brakes slowly and with the pedal held down open the bleed nipple it'll take 4-5 shots to get pressure on the pedal, once you have some pressure happening, push the brakes up hard, lock the pedal down and adjust the snail cam to hold the shoes all the way out. bleed again and once you have all the air out your brake hydraulics are good.

if your brakes arent in reasonable condition you may need to adjust up all the wheel station snail cams.

once you have the hydraulics adjusted properly you can adjust the snail cams properly.

the simple version of that is to press the brakes on with the wheel in the airlightly tighten the cams till they touch, release the pedal pressure then with someone turning the wheel back the snail cam of till the shoes just drag then back off one more notch apply the brakes lightly and then adjust up one notch. rotate the wheel in both directions and apply the brakes to stop the wheel. if the shoes drag back off one notch and repeat the turn and brake routine.

Mark the snails i they move after a short test drive your snails are shot

ALWAYS test your brakes after all adjustments and maintenance in first and reverse low range on flat ground.
