You will have to remove the upper rear body, then the tub. This may be possible without removing the roof. But either way, you will have to remove a lot of trim.

Consider whether repairs may be possible without removing the body, either by replacing only the rusted part of the crossmember or by replacing the crossmember plus part of the chassis rails. This was done recently on my 110 to repair accident damage, but I don't think it is as easy on Series Landrovers.

Undoubtedly, however, the actual repair will be easier and more satisfactory with the rear body removed.

That rust involves the back of the chassis rail, which makes it likely that the body will have to come off. It is still possible that a repair could be made, without, but it does not look good.

Being in Ballarat, you should go and have a talk to the folks at roverparts. (www.roverparts.com.au) They are near Sebastapol. They will have the chassis repair parts you need, and may even know someone who can help you or do it for you.
