Thread: Where do you put the fire extinguisher?

Mine is mounted horizontally across the firewall in front of the gear stick, using the bolts on the tunnel cover (the retaining catch at the top).

It can be reached by either the driver or passenger and doesn't restrict the space in the passenger's footwell.

Be sure to get an extinguisher that has a metal holder with prongs around the sides of the neck so it stays horizontal instead of wobbling.
Remember if mounting in this location you need to regularly remove it from its mount and shake it up a bit before re-fitting. This way it reduces the chances of the powder consolidating.

This seems to be the most sensible position, using existing bolts. You can un-clip it while driving without taking your eyes off the road. .W.

That's an interesting Series III?

Unfortunately, unlike the Series one, the tunnel/bellhousing front cover on a SIII six cylinder is one piece running up to mid height of the firewall.

Sorry, I didn't realise it was a S3 . I only read 109. .W.

The first ones goes over the tunnel on the firewall
the second ones behind the center seat
#3+4 are in the rear sponson tool boxes
#5 is in the chainsaw box.

Interesting......never seen the need to carry one. Although my new work car has one in the tub, which is generally locked.
