Depending on what model you have - engine, etc, they will be:-

Headlights (this is a constant feed)
    Spare
    Indicators and Wipers
Stop lamps, dash lamps (through the voltage stabiliser)

Some stuff is unfused on these, like the ignition coil and most of the other globes. Land Rover were never big on fuses early on for some reason - one of the reasons I carry a fire extinguisher and have a battery isolation switch on mine.

Grab yourself a manual for the vehicle, very handy to have lying around.

    All the best.
If you need to contact me please email homestarrunnerau@gmail.com - thanks - Gav.

    Hi Homestar,
Thanks your comments help me somewhat. I recently bought a Series that has a series 3 top half to the bulkhead with a 2a bottom half which made the ordering of a wiring loom very difficult, so much so I bought the wrong one. I've now sold this on and am contemplating wiring this up myself now. I have a few wiring diagrams and I've now ordered some 3mm and 4mm wire, a truck load of connectors and a relay box, i'm going to try and wire in a bunch of relays to take the load off the actual switches. Oh and of course a fuse box with more than four fuses in it.
Autosparks in the UK have been very helpful in trying to resolve my wiring issues, great company to deal with.
    Cheers Marty.

I'm not really getting it when people talk about relays - If you go ahead with your work and can post something up when its done I would appreciate it.

Relays are basically electromagnetic switches where one circuit when activated pulls the switch which allows another circuit to be completed. Used mainly where voltage drop is an issue - classic case being the headlights on Series 3 trucks which has the circuit to the headlights running through the light switch and dip switch. The drop around the circuit means the lights don't get as good a charge as if they were drawing power straight from the battery and the power going through the dip switch/light switch often results in their premature failure. By running a relay through the circuit the dip switch/light switch can be used to trigger the relay switch while the lights are fed from a thicker wire direct from the battery or alternator. Driving lights and air horns are another couple of accessories that typically use relays.

    Cheers

    Hi Dark61,
If you type wiring up an auto electrical relay into Google there are some really good youtube tutorials that walk you through what they do and how to wire them up.

    Many thanks guys.
Yes I already put independent relays and fuses for the headlights, air horn, rear light, and front auxiliary lights, but never touch the original fuses
