    Hub Cap and Hose...

Hi all, I'm looking for a bit of help to identify2 part numbers. Any guidance is appreciated (I have searched quiteextensively, but am struggling). Here we go:

    1. Rear axle Hub cap. 1979 LightweightSeries 3, with a Rover rear axle. The axle has just one hub cap, on thepassenger side. The old item is a pretty chunky plastic affair, about 50mm high and 65mm diameter at the base. I had a crack at anFRC4377B, but it's far too shallow - at just 35mm high. I have tried tocollate various information that may help on the photo (the axle numbers werevery hard to read, and must be considered to be partially complete).

    2. Also, I need to replace the hose inthe photo. Any ideas on the part number, or what may be used in thiscase, would be great.

I will need to purchase these parts (and many moreover the coming years), so any suggestions on a retailer that may be able tohelp, would be much appreciated.

Thank you in advance for any help, Simon

    Auto parts

    Hello from Brisbane.

Can't help with the hub cap as I had thought they were pretty much a standard part across the general run of Series trucks. In fact I had thought that this was one of the several pieces of DNA that my Series 3 shared with the original class of 48.

For the hose the quickest solution is probably to take the existing piece to Repco or similar and get a bit cut to length off the correct diameter hose.

    Cheers,

    Neil

Might be worth joining REMLR The Registry of Ex Military Land Rovers. Australia, New Zealand and elsewhere.
Someone on the forum there should be able to help.

I wouldn't have thought the caps would have originally been plastic, it looks like the standard cap used on Series I, II & III.

For parts locally try Four Wheel Drives in Hallam Four Wheel Drives Pty Ltd, Largest Range of 4x4 Parts and Accessories in Australia. Don't rely on the website, phone and speak to them. Ideally Monday, Wednesday or Thursday and ask for Murray.

Bacause the Lightweight isn't so common in Australia you may have to track down parts suppliers in the UK for any items that are not shared with other Series vehicles.

    Many thanks all,

It looks like a trip to Repco for a hose...pretty straightforward. However the Hub Cap remains a mystery. It's definitely not 219098 (looks the right length, but not wide enough to fit) and it's also not FRC4377 (looks wide enough, but nowhere near long enough to fit). I know this for a fact, because I have one of each from local suppliers (lucky they are cheap!).

Therefore, I think it's time to ask some Lightweight fans, who may know, as this may be a "military specific" part...

    Thanks again, Simon
