Got stuck into it again fitted new senders and pickup to both tanks filled with fuel and thought I give it a start
Started fine but not idling right well went to adjust the crappy zenith copy and low and behold the adjusting screw looks like a banana so have no confidence in the rest of it so now I have to find a decent original zenith

That screw appears to me to have been forcefully hammered in resulting in the body thread stripping. The needle doesn't appear to be damaged. Who would do such a thing?Quote:

Today I bolted the new carby from Blanchards had to do the usual tighten of screws on carby top which seems to be the norm with these copy carbs before starting
Runs perfect now does blow white/ grey for about 1 second giving it a belly full from idle but nothing when slow pushing the accelerator maybe just lots of condensation stuck in exhaust
Only other concern is a very slight tap from engine at half acceleration don’t do it at full or at idle but it’s so hard to hear and I probably over listening for problems more than anything and car still in bits so maybe even a panel tapping revisit when car all bolted together
But other than that nice running 2.25 now
The other job was the rubber vent seals omg same manufacturer of seal but one fatter than the other there were some words spoken fitting these stikaflex seems to find it’s way onto everything and refitting the vents and pins was task in itself

Couple of more jobs ticked off over last couple of weeks fitted new distributor with electronic ignition ran great with points but there is a definite improvement with the new dizzy
Also panelled and painted the seat box one of the things I tried was the aluminium brazing rods you see on ads wasn’t holding out much hope that would work but to my surprise worked fantastic just like soldering once it got to right temp and slowly went round edge of hole the rod just filled it in

Steering box done few swear words but not too bad only downside is I knocked the plastic brake reservoir and broke it so now on the hunt for one of those if anyone has a good second hand one thanks
Other question is do the series steering shaft that go thru the bulkhead go on a slight angle from chassis mount to were they enter bulkhead I can’t remember and the steering box not fitted to my series 2 to look at hope that makes sense https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...ad67613912.jpg
Sometimes the small jobs give the most satisfaction as both my door handle/latch were hard to operate and worn as I did not want to buy new ones for the sake of it drilled out the pressed in rivets cleaned changed the return spring on one and repaired the door lock on other
