Is it definatly a s3? Not a very late s2a. Does it have the plastic dash?

I've just collected a Series III LWB Station wagon parts car, hopefully it will donate some of the parts I need for my Dormobile.
It was a 6-cylinder (still is but now a 161 fitted) but a couple of odd things I've noticed :-
There is no air inlet on the passenger side wing.
Heater/fan layout I haven't seen before.
Rear lights are Series II.
Was this fan layout unique to the 6-cylinder ?
Chassis number comes up as a CKD but maybe it's a bitzer.........

Very early S3's didn't have the heater with the inlet through the guard. They also had series 2 tail lights like yours, but the hinges are S3 so I'd say you have an early example - 1972 or 73.
If you need to contact me please email homestarrunnerau@gmail.com - thanks - Gav.
It has the Series III dash (stripped out) I just wasn't familiar with the heater & lack of inlet.
It's doesn't have front doors or a gearbox, it has a Holden motor and a lot of the internal parts are missing so it's a parts car. Seems a shame but it will help get the Dormobile finished and provide parts for some of my other Land Rovers.
I'll advertise in Markets once i decide what to keep. In the meantime the kids enjoyed playing in it today.......

I have a 1972 88" Series 3 and it has the 2A tail lights.
However it does have the heater intake air vent on the left wing.
It has some very good straight panels and that front bumper looks to be in good nick, other than having the tow tongue through it.
Cheers, Mick.

Mick,
The panels are very straight.
Front bumper has a lot of holes drilled in it (see the bullbar in Markets). The tow tongue has no reinforcement behind the bumper !
Rear doors are reasonably rust free, a small amount of welding should fix them up.
Lots of holes in the wing tops but the outer panels are really good.
If I'm not careful I'll be keeping all of it.......problem is SWMBO wants it off the driveway sooner rather than later.

Series 3 had the heater as optional equipment in Australia until demisting became a requirement in about 1973, and there was no inlet for the heater intake if it was not fitted. I would guess that heater was an aftermarket one, probably off something else.

It even has an indent in the bonnet support that looks like it may be to provide clearance for the fan motor. I have a deluxe bonnet here that has the same indent (on both left and right sides).
The standard bonnet does not have it.
Cheers, Mick.

My S111 swb is a 1972 model has the same heater and no air intake vent on the Lh side and s11 tail lights
I believe it has to do with left over parts from s11![]()
