Thanks for the kind words guys! It really helps with the motivation :)
Cheers,
Despite the engine block going through the hot tank twice there is still a bit of crud in the water galleries. The engine machinist has had a "bit of a go" at getting the worst of it out, but there was still a bit in there. So after about 3 hours with a bottle brush, air gun, and scraper this lot came out: (Don't mind the metal swarf, thats from drilling a hole in the little core plug in the back of the block that hadn't been taken out).

The block then got prepped for paint, however as much as I wanted to paint it, it was 35 deg + in the workshop so it would have been more powder coating than painting!

Cheers,
The engine got painted early monday morning before the temperature and wind kicked up.
All masked up and on the, um, paint lift?

And finished. The blue colour has to be the hardest colour to get an accurate representation of when photographing, as you can see in the following pictures:

I'll leave the masking on until the paint has fully hardened, (that'll probably take a week for the air dry enamel to go off properly), so the block stays sealed. The head is just sitting on the still masked deck of the block only because it has to be somewhere.
Cheers,
I am seriously considering painting the head black.... (I am not fond of the duck egg colour).
Happy for some feed back as I am stuck right on the fence at the moment.
Cheers,
You do whatever makes you happy - I like the Duck Egg blue or whatever its called.
cheers,

Tim,
what colour were you thinking for the rocker cover?
maybe a black head and rocker would look good?
I think all the one colour , either all blue or all mat black. I think a black head on the blue block would cheapen it . [bighmmm] Any way that's my 2 cents worth.
Are you OK Tim or just busy assembling the engine?
heers,
Russ
