Congratulations on a successful demonstration of a new and effective* way of removing the relay.

Lucky I think John! I was fortunate to have the pieces of angle, (with the holes in them already!), they are transport brackets for some of our machinery. I don't think the 12mm threaded bar would have taken much more, maybe 4t max? But they can be easily "scaled up"

Got a bit done today, (sorry, left the camera at the workshop and it has the memory card in it, so no pics today).
Finally got the bushes out of the chassis, managed to mark one of the tubes in the chassis with my saw blade, but it is quite minor, (still a bit ****ed about it though :( ). Then gave the chassis a go over with the wire brush on the grinder. I was going to sand blast it myself, but it quickly became apparent the el-cheapo unit I have is going to cost me more in grit and power than paying someone else to do it!
Springs came off the axles, I was hoping to refurbish these, but the wear step on the front springs is about half the leaf thickness. I'll probably end up going the parabolic route, however I've already sourced the standard dampers, so a bit of research is in order.
Both front swivel hubs were also dismantled, no major worries, however both chalices were dry, the unis were just packed with grease..... They are fine fortunately, however the railco bushes and bottom swivel bearings are ruined.
I've a bit more to get on with tomorrow afternoon, with a bit of luck I'll remember the cameras memory card!
