    Yep.

Don't feel bad, I've done exactly the same thing but I had mine back in the Kingswood before I noticed...

Thanks Dgd, yeah, it's still there, I've left it on the bolt (this way I can lose both ).

    Tim.
Is there a reason you cant do the wheel alignment????
Surely the old fashion string line is all that's needed on a series????

I probably will Andy, but the track rod is going to need to be turned by someone at some stage. I'll probably take more care than someone at a shop, but no doubt it'll get marked.

    Cheers,

Edit, The drag link has a damper mount welded to it.... I doubt that gets checked/x-rayed by the manufacturer......

Got the starter back together today, newly soaked bearing pressed in:

Drive unit all back together with lashings of graphite powder, (probably the only substance that is as messy as anti-seize!)

    And all done

I spent the rest of the day blasting and painting bits and pieces. One of the big bits that needs doing is the sump

I degreased it and pressure washed it before blasting, then degreased and pressure washed 3 ~ 4 times to get rid of the lingering gunk under the windage tray. There seems to be some persistent gunk under there, and I don't want any stray blasting media getting in the oil. So the sump is now in the dishwasher

    Cheers,

    Work must be real quiet.
What with all the time you spend doing the work, then photographing and posting, plus reading all our dribble and replying.
OR you find a way of fitting 36 hours into 24

To be honest work has been pretty hectic, hence the big gap in posts. I try to find a bit of time to do bits an pieces each day. Posting the pictures etc, and the feedback, helps me stay motivated to keep on with it, so thanks again everyone Having no social life helps with finding spare hours also!

Just an observation but has that sump bung been bronzed into the pan
I only ask because bronze is porous and every sump I have seen repaired with it has wept.
I thought they were wire welded in originally.
