    To what end?
Bear in mind the front wheels will need to rotate at different speeds.

Yep I made my own axle doing what you have suggested......hopefully the series stubs are the same as sals stubs, less matching. My axle was for my camper trailer.

Do leaf car have a panard rod??

    How/where do the shocks mounts.

I think he means getting rid of the diff housing all together....and just stub/hub assemblies.

If you are removing the swivel housings off the diff housing there's no real reason why you can't fabricate a replacement axle to replace the housing. Fit the mounting flanges slightly higher than the centre of the axle, but look out for the steering gear. Also I'd use heavy wall tube not solid bar, keeps a bit of rigidity to the front end. Stripped of CVs and axles the swivel hubs should function quite adequately.

    Thumbs up

I am doing this to my series 3 swb, basically going to slam it as low as I can and keep it stock

I'd go as far as having a drop axle either forged or bent out of heavy wall tube, gives the sump clearance you need and you'll get it right on the deck then.

    That's how I'd always envisaged building a Slam'd Rover...

I'm sure if you googled 'FUV' 2wd Series 1 & 2 these were specially made for the RAF, they had a tube front axle, there would have to some information about them somewhere, cheers Dennis

So this may seem like a silly question but I noticed on the front diff housing there are flanges in either end and I'm thinking if if I unbolt those flanges and remove the centre of the diff and see if I can get a straight solid round axle with some machined flanges on the ends is it possible to bolt the ends on? I'm sure this sounds like I'm talking jibberish but I hope you guys understand me lol
One of my Jeeps (late 60's J2000) was a 2WD with a Rockwell Standard front beam axle. (Imported for some big mining project way back then)
Basically a big, straight tube between the king pin assemblies to which standard Jeep hubs bolted, sort of similar to what you're proposing.

After we ran out of king pin bush kits I just bolted a standard Dana 44 front end in that I had lying around, (it was supposed to go into my CJ6) it just didn't have a front prop or Dana t/case.
If I wasn't so lazy I could've pulled the axles and centre.

A slammed Series 1 would be oh so cool, enough I could envisage that as a project one day.
I actually wanted to do a lowered and Holden 304 repowered two door RRC with nice BWA mags and small flares once upon a time.

So Iv actually been pretty busy.....

1st started by getting the v8 to purr like a kitten lol well an oily kitten...then removing and resetting front leaf springs, diff on chassis at the front and still not low enough...

Although my boys seem to like it with the roof off lol

So then I got serious and ordered some heavy wall 75mm pipe and 16mm plate

Then cut the plate and drilled and tapped it..

Finished result, I'm happy with it but looks a little agricultural I think. But it'll do until I work out something nicer.

Iv also swapped out the 7.50r16 for some 195/60/16 on the front and should have the axle and front wheels fitted tomorrow. My estimate is the front bumper bar should be about 190-200mm off the ground...

Iv also bought a chassis notch kit and with a bit of luck should have that welded in and the rear floor cut out within the next week or 2...
