The previous owner fit that front wheel cylinder. I thought it the right one.
Does the front wheel cylinder look like this?

Anyone can send me the photos of the rear wheel cylinder for swb?

1. Always measure brake drum diameter by the diameter of the surface the brake shoes work on. Inside, in other words.

2. The correct wheel cylinder does not look like the ones pictured - those are lwb fron brake cylinders, one per shoe, right and left different.

3. The correct one looks exactly the same as the one fitted, but it is smaller.

Found this on the Internet, SWB (10") front brake.

Leading shoe has a spring to pull the cylinder end back but nothing on the trailing shoe.
The other end has a spring that pulls both shoes towards the pivot post.

The top spring is to keep pressure on the snail,, yes ?

I’m suspecting mine may be not quite right 😳
Perhaps I should have checked that bit properly before getting a new set of snails etc 🙄

Sort of....
It's to make sure the leading shoe is pulled away from the drum when you take your foot off the brake. The leading shoe is servo assisted by the rotation of the drum so if you don't pull it away after braking, when you move forward the leading shoe can be re-applied.
The snail is to allow adjustment so you don't have too much travel on the pedal.
The spring does pull the shoe against the snail.

If you fit a snail for the trailing shoe as well (if the shoe has a post for the snail to bear against) you can reduce the pedal travel further. I did this on the rear of My Series I but for another reason.

How the trailing shoe move away from the drum after brake pedal is released? Is the brake cylinder piston goes in after brake pedal release or it relying the pressure from the trailing shoe?

It tends to get pushed away by the movement of the brake drum (unless you are reversing when it becomes the leading shoe).

if you put the spring between the shoes at the top it will pull the trailing shoe and piston back in, (as there is no snail on that shoe,) you do not want on a Series LandRover because it pushes the fluid back up into the master cylinder and the brake pedal will hit the floor before the shoe hits the drum, and you will need a second pump to get any brakes.

Fitting residual brake pressure valves in the brake lines (or MC union) will help (as on most other drum brake vehicles) but thats not the LandRover way .
