The hole on the other side is badly worn, but the easiest is probably to rebuild both sides unless the dumb iron is rusty enough that it needs replacing. I have never seen a break like that! Probably the result of the other side hole being so enlarged that it provided no support to the shackle bolt. It has obviously been driven for some time like that, and suggests there may be other evidences of gross neglect of maintenance elsewhere!

Allright, I'm gonna have a lot of progress photos to post over the weekend....

meanwhile is anyone able to tell me if these would be okay on a series 3?

s6068LED. Its listed for a defender but I am taking a guess they would fit on a series....or should I return to the old lenses and bulbs?

I think you have a lot of work ahead to get the vehicle back on the road, sourcing lighting will at the end of the journey......

When I picked it up I was told it was a 1982 SIII

The engine is stamped 1979. The body has (mostly all) been ripped off, sanded, dents beaten out, sanded, swore at, and primed.

The plan this weekend (if there's not some sort of horizontal misery falling from the sky again) to get the engine turned over......lets see how that goes

Yeah....it's a ways off, just getting lists of things together that I'll need/want and wasn't sure if these would be any good. Figured someone around here may have a thought.

The only issue with those lights on a S3 is that from memory the tail lights in Series Landrovers incorporate reflectors - Defenders don't. But as commented - this area (LED lights) is changing quite rapidly, so probably better to wait until you need them.

Fair enough. I'll add these to the shopping list with the regular lights and wait until it gets to that stage.

    Anyways......back to sandbalsting.
