Disconnect your battery to be safe and then check all the terminals on the solenoid are tight.
Hi all
Starting up the series 3 yesterday, kicks over but noticed lots of sparks coming off the solenoid --around the lugs - something going on here?
Any insights ? Should I look to replace the solenoid?
Thanks

Possibly replace the solenoid, but more likely, disconnect the battery and remove the connections, clean them up, and reconnect and tighten them - might even just need tightening!

Thanks all - I gave them a clean up - on further inspection a 'fifth' lug was connected - the sparking one , not sure where it went so I disconnected it , all other lights , power to starter and car runs so it may be wiring , even an old wiring loom was still connected. Very odd but the car does have all sorts of wiring through it build up over the years by previous cb and gadget loving owners! Thanks again
