Exmoor Trim hood sticks set - 88 S3. Part size.

    Evening all.

I was given a full hood canvas and stick set with my series 3 88.

I have taken the hard top off and spent a frustrating morning trying to piece it all together. I have checked exmoor’s website, it appears that I have all the pieces but it looks like the horizontal tie bar is the wrong length.

Has anyone got one that can be measured for comparison? Mine seem to be 6 inches too short at 1030mm long.

I also noted that the centre support hoop mounting brackets aren’t in the centre of the horizontal tie bar (centre is 420mm in from one end).

    Hi Gus,
just went out and measured my bars.
    I measured between bolt holes.
full horizontal bar, centre to centre holes, 1210mm middle hoop bracket in centre at 610, hole to centre of middle bracket.
3/4 1015mm 510mm then bracket is in the middle, not off set like yours.

It would appear that these bars are a bit of a mystery. I have checked Exmoor and the LR accessories book and can’t find these bars anywhere. The tray clearly shows rub marks from the rope when it was installed so I’m at a loss to explain what was on there previously.

Regardless, I think I might make something up myself as waiting for imports seems like hard work. I was thinking of modifying a tarp strut from the local camping store.

Bit of a bother really, I was only testing the fit in order to sell the set so as to fund the next stage of the works.

    Much appreciate your effort WhiteHB.

    Gus
