Nice. I saw that on Car Sales looks really good.
Just picked up this very original Stage 1, drives like new and has had a lot of love from previous owners, it’s well down on power from my current stage one, but fitted with Range Rover high range gears makes it a great drive on the open road..
only real plans for it would be to get the motor really singing to 3.9 or 4.6.
its got original carbies on it, an I best to keep these on or upgrade them to a single Holley or similar?

First see if it's still got the restrictor plates fitted under the carbies, they cut the power back quite a bit. I remember once repowering one of those with a 4.4 P76 engine and getting chronic bunny hopping from the front end with the bigger motor, had to engage CDL to get out of my bitumen driveway.
Improving the Stage One V8Improving the Stage One V8 The most popular improvements are: power, economy, ride comfort and interior.
Power: As standard, the V8 is fitted with restrictors between the carburettors and manifold to reduce power to 90 bhp. Land Rover felt that any more would make the vehicle too fast for the brakes and suspension. The restrictors are quite easy to remove. Take off the carburettors and you will see the restrictors. They are held in with snap rings, and can usually be levered out using a thin bladed screwdriver. Take care not to damage the manifold, and fit new carb to manifold gaskets on reassembly. This modification will take the engine to standard Range Rover tune (135 bhp).
Nice toy

Did you read the bit I quoted?
Clearly the original market would have been different to today's. Company cars with poor handling and braking and vehicles needed to not maim too many inexperienced drivers. I even noted the axle tramp with a more powerful engine down below. Older people who buy them now probably aren't into racing them around like teenagers so will survive.
Did you ?
Clearly, my post is advisory
It occurred to me that due to the lack of relevant information being posted in this thread, the OP may not have been aware of the manufacturers' opinion that there is an inherent design inadequacy of the standard brakes in relation to the use of un-restricted power of the V8.
If I had a V8 Stage 1, and if I wasn't aware of this issue, and if I was considering removal of the restrictors, then I would like to know why they were originally factory installed.
If someone got as far as 2018 and couldn't work out the inadequacies of 1980's technology, they should probably stick to driving 4 cyl automatic Hyundai sedans. Let's face it, this forum talks about power gain modification every day of the week, none of this is hard to nut out.
