The biggest problem you will have with most of the replacement fuel pumps is too much pressure. Old fuel pumps were much lower pressure often in the 2-3 PSI.
There were available then fuel pressure regulators , but i havent seen any of these around for a while.
Also Facet electric fuel pumps had low pressure models but all pumps i have seen lately are 5 psi plus andd these are likely to cause carby flooding at lower speeds and very poor economy.
I would rebuild the original pump if you can as the specifications are correct for the carby.

My Series I has two Facets (has a 2nd tank) feeding a Holden carby.
When we were getting it sorted for Cooma 2008 the father-in-law suggested fitting a fuel pressure regulator because the Holden carby might not like the pressure from the Facets. Works great and have never had an issue with it.

Ian,
It came off the father-in-law's Motorkhana car.
I think it was a Holley but I'd have to have a look. Very similar to this Holley Chrome 4.5-9 PSI Fuel Pressure Regulator 901270202272 | eBay
