Fuel Pump problems has anyone used this pump

    Hi All

I have a suffix A Station Wagon with the 2.6 6pot. It currently has a SU duel fuel pump. This pump is on the way out one side of the pump doesn't work and the other is struggling. I need to replace it and I have just found this pump 12 volt SU Style Electric Fuel Pump 2 LPM 5-6psi Double Solenoid replace SU AUF 500/AZX 1500 Series
I'm just wondering if anyone has used one of these. To replace the pump with the genuine item is $473 where as the pump in the link is $167.74.

    Cheers

    "high quality plastic construction" ........

Can you overhaul the existing pump ?
From the UK about $140 plus freight

You might have to speak to this person to work out the correct kit.

    Hi Colin

Yes a plastic fantastic. I've had a look at those sites while I was looking for a replacement. After looking at the workshop manual I'm not so sure I have the skill to rebuild the pump. I was prepared to buy the genuine article but after much research I came up with this pump.

One side of the pump still works but took a little gentle encouragement with the hammer to free it up when I started the vehicle the other day. I suspect it is a little gummed up.

    Cheers

    Steve,

Either gummed up or maybe the points need cleaning. Four Wheel Drives did carry the points sets but that was a while back.

I can have a look at it for you if it helps.

Throw your pump away and get one of these. Why would you want a plastic copy of one of the worst pumps ever built.

Get one of these, Simple, cheap, non serviceable and run forever

Yes I've thought about using something like that. I was just thinking of keeping my Landy as authentic as possible but I might just go with one of those pumps anyway.

    Hi Colin

I've found a place where I can source points SU Midel | For All Your SU Carburetter Requirements - SU Fuel Pump Twin Point Rocker Assembly and Blade

The fun really begins when I try to take the pump out. It would be easy if they had kept the standard seat box covers in place but they have riveted panels in place. What ever pump option I go with I will have to drill out the rivets to remove the panel. I just can't quite get it from the middle seat where the seat panel is original.

I'll check with Murray next week to see if they still have any in stock.
