Quick question.
Does the Series 3 have "panic" lights, like both the left and the right indicators are flasing... Like you see on newer cars?
The only panic light I have is the 'oil light'! Yeah nah, my '86 county doesn't have hazard lights either, no way a series does.
Hazard lights, I believe, were fitted only when they became a legal requirement - I think about 1979.

The Hazard light system is shown in the optional equipment parts list - but that does not help to answer the question "when was it fitted to Australian built Series 3?"

Hello from Sherwood.
My 1975 Volvo had hazard lights whereas my 1975 Valiant, Moke and Falcon ute didn’t.
Must have come later.

When I was growing up we had a 71 MGBGT and a 74 BGT. The 71 didn’t have hazards but the 74 did!
