You bought this after drinking the bottle of rum?
Do the body mounting poinmts on the series 3 match up with the D2 chassis?
The discovery is 20cm wider, you will need large flares over the wheels.
The Series three wheel base is 22cm longer. That might cause a problem, A longer rear prop shaft may suffice.
Just a moment...

Series body on D2 chassis? There was a TV series by Mark Evans called "A 4x4 Is Born", where he put one on a RRC chassis. I imagine it would be similar.
RRC or D1 would be better if you want to register it, cos getting engineering approval on a D2, when airbags were compulsory, would be problematic to say the least.

Nanocom, D2 TD5 only.
This has come up a few times, it's certainly been done in the past.

Yes, but D2 changes everything if it's to be engineered.
I went into this in some detail with a VASS engineer with my SIII and my RRC that I had. That one wasn't too bad as they were very close in year of manufacture, This meant that the ADRs around steering columns, impact absorbing dash and seatbelts were similar. The car would be viewed as whatever the chassis was, so it had to comply with the rules for the RRC at TOM. A D2 is a whole different thing, with its mandatory airbags etc. I don't believe it could be registered anywhere in Oz, but it might be ok on a permit for a street rod or something.
Happy to be proved wrong.

I think you are right, and this is the biggest issue with putting a S3 body on a D2.
Maybe a bare D1 chassis with D2 mechanicals.........

Yes, more like it. Much simpler. Still some issues but a good relationship with the engineer could probably get by most of them.Originally Posted by JDNSW;[URL="tel:3199083"

I thought that given Aust ADR rules it was easier to put D1/D2 running gear and suspension on a modified series chassis than put a series body on a later chassis as it would have to meet all the ADrs and other requirements for that chassis.
