Thanks Chris. A bloke on the Sunshine coast did similar.
I cant as I am running coils on the front and the spring tower is where the box is. Also the 4bdi power steering pump would hit my front axle so I went with a remote belt drive pump.

Sorry to hijack the thread but here is a link to mine from wayback. My First Forward Control

Lovely job you are doing there.

Keith , would a Power steering box that mounts forward of the front cross member, just in front of the original relay box location work, with the pitman arm facing to the rear . A local bloke has a Series 1 with a 327 in it and I thought at the time I saw it, that it was an unusual place to mount a PS box, but given the lack of space under bonnet was a good option, in your case I think it would work OK.

I can go visit and get some photos if it would help.

Mate, I have spent hours under it looking for ways but it wont work. The 6x6 I converted to a forward control camper was easy . A landy box horizontal under the front with the input shaft up via a uni to the steering column and a steering rod from the LH wheel to the L/R moving pitman worked very well.
But wont work on this as the chassis front spring hanger is in the road . Even though I dont use it I wont cut it off.
Your disc brake conversion is the last big job I am doing and the twin caliper on the front works very well.
The specialist gave me an expiry date of 26 months a year ago so I have to get out and use it before I kick the bucket.
Those 255-100-16 Michelins are hardly worn. I want to do one last Simpson trip this year.

Apologies again to the OP. I have the S3 firewall I took out you can have if you want to pick it up. Its got a few alterations to it having come from the FC but I can post some pics if you are interested.

    Keith
