If you use chequerplate you will need to mill/grind a flay area for the lights. Might look a bit dodgy?
You could use alloy propellor plate, a bit thinner than checker plate and with smaller less "agressive" raised areas. If your lights have rubber backs and they are thick enough, you should be able to bolt them straight onto propellor plate. Either that or put another rubber behind the lights. I've bolted other rubber backed lights to propellor plate and they fit flush enough to not need to grind an opening out to fit them in.

    Checker plate is this pattern.

Propellor plate or diamond plate is this pattern.

Not sure about pricing but it is lighter, non structural and shiny. I picked up a heap of new sheets and offcuts a while back from a signwriter's garage sale for next to nothing (less than scrap prices). Still have a few bits but I'm reluctant to use it on my SIII as I don't want to spoil the look.

On the back I am just using normal ali and it will be painted same colour as the car

Today I finished off the roof lining and re-installed the roof and also re-installed the rear seat so I can start on the false floor in the back and also the seat belts

    G'day Adam,
In an earlier post you mentioned the lining material and that you would post the cost of it. Can you remember what type it is and how much? I looked on Clark's website but couldn't find it there,

    Cheers Charlie

From memory they call it foam sheild or form sheild grey on one side and silver on the other its about $35 a meter then I put roof lining material on top that is $40 a meter and all i used was spray on glue from there as well

You can get fabric from Spotlight or similar places called wonderwall (it is like very thin flexible carpet so it will stick round curves easilly - they use it on walls so you can stick velcro to it), very similar to roof lining but a lot cheaper at around $15 - $20 a metre, I've even heard of people lining boots and cargo areas with it as it is quite hard wearing. I used it when I had a picture framing business to have samples of frames on display stuck to it with velcro. Comes in a few different colours and is a cheaper like-for-like option for roof linings.
