Well she's on the road and registered.

Took a little longer than I expected but Easter and holidays sort of slowed things down.

As JDNSW commented, the springs and bushes were a bit tired so I decided to replace..
Also as willvine commented the heater may be stuffed - It was, had to recore.
Also reco steering box and replace tie rods.

Spent a bit more than I expected but I expected a few surpsrises. Anyway with new springs on all 4 corners, It's a job I wont have to revisit for a while
I'm wondering about the dampers too, but this can wait for now.

    Steering is much better now

New speedo cable and the speedo works a bit better but still under-reading by about 15kmh This is a bit of a worry with all the blooming speed cameras around Melbourne - at least I wont get done for over 100kmh Odometer is still U/S so I may have to get the head rebuilt or maybe just buy a new one.

The overdrive is quite noisey but still operating fine - one to watch.

Luckily the inspector saw the make and description of the vehicle on the form and spent the whole time telling me about his time in the Army at Bandiana and the Land Rovers he used to drive . Needless to day it passed with flying colours .

    Time for a trip

    Good Work Paul.

Which Vic Roads office did you take it to for inspection?

    What did they check specifically?

I need to take mine soon, chatted up a lady at Burwood and she said they are only looking for signs of rebirthing, provided the RWC is current and everything works, nothing to worry about.

Provided you have a valid RWC, I suspect they don't even need to see the vehicle - Mine has current NSW rego so I guess they give some validity to that.

I think if the vehicle has not been registered before then the inspection is a lot more thorough.
