    SII Exhaust

Is the exhaust system the same on the SII and SIII for a SWB 2 1/4 petrol?

The answer is - "it depends". Series 2a exhaust except possibly early ones (not sure when it changed) is either identical or at least completely interchangeable with Series 3.

Series 2 exhaust manifold and front pipe are not the same, with the exhaust pipe flange on the manifold pointing up, and I suspect these continued into early 2a.

And, of course, the earliest Series 2 swb had the 2 litre engien with a different exhaust anyway.

Note that the front pipe is different if a LH fuel tank is fitted.

Also, does anyone know where sells these exhaust systems? Only the suppliers I have contacted have said they are no longer available...

I know they are available via UK based suppliers, but I'd rather keep the money in Aus!

Last I checked, not all that recently, Land Vehicle Spares in Sydney and Four Wheel Drives in Melbourne both had them. I would expect that there are a number of other suppliers that would too. I would not expect them to be available from either Landrover Dealers or the general after market exhaust suppliers. Who told you they are no longer available?

I went to my local SPRINT AUTO, and they got one made for me, and had it sent from WA.

Apparently nobody stocks them, It'll have to be made.

And yes, there are a number of differences (muffler(s), pipe bends etc.) between year models, and wheelbases.

I went to my local non-franchised parts dealer, and they gave me an exhaust book to look at. I selected which particular Land Rover pipe that I wished to fit, and they ordered it from W.A. There must be a company over there that still has the patterns for all the old exhausts. It was quite cheap, much cheaper than having a custom one formed up.
