    Camel Trophy

What mods did the Series III Camel Trophy Land Rovers run?

I am aware the motors were modified for hot climates. But other that and the obvious roof rack, winch, lighting, and mods like that. Did they have a suspension modification? bigger tyres?

    Cheers guys

The Series 3 was only ever used on one event which was Zaire 1983, and probably represented the most rag bag mix of vehicles ever seen on the Camel Trophy. The vehicles were all 2 1/4 litre diesel station wagons in both 88” and 109” wheelbase versions. Team vehicles were all 88” versions.

Taken from article at Camel Trophy vehicles - Series III 88 & 109 . Lots of good info there

They appear to be fairly standard in the idea of lockers lifts tyre size bar work and gearing. Would of been a real sales improvement for the Series III after proving them selves on such a hard rally!
