Completely without warning, when I went to disengage the clutch the pedal lost its feel and then went hard about an inch above the floor. I took out the slave cylinder to replace it but found the clutch (fork) lever and the push rod were in the clutch disengaged position, that is fully in with only a few mm of rod protruding out of the bell housing. Not sure what has fallen off to let the clutch lever move back and sit in that position. Any thoughts? Shes a 73 SWB diesel HT
If you remove the gear lever complete with the bracket it is on it gives you an access hole in the bell housing. You won't be able to do anything, but you may be able to see what has happened, and in any case you probably want to take it off to get the box out.
Incidentally, with the 2a, and it probably applies with the 3, I have found you can move the box back far enough to get at the clutch without having to completely remove it.
