The main advantage is that the diesel will use half the fuel of the petrol. And has great low down torque for pottering round the bush.

Unlike what Dave says, the CAV DPA injector pump which the 2.25D has, doesn't like fuels which are too viscous. So while it will run fine on biodiesel (I usually use B20), it will not last long on veg oil.

I originally rebuilt my 2.25P. It went quite well, and would happily do 125km/h on the highway (without OD) - and beat my dad's 88" with a twin barrel webber carby. However I didn't regret the switch to a 2.25D for one microsecond.
Thats why IVe got a fairly significant fuel heating system. at about 60 degrees (depending on the quality of the oil) the vegge oil flows just like diesel.

problem is everyones now switched over to a copha like grease that takes more heatin and holds more water

yeah a fair point, but Im trying to play by their rules so they cant turn around and bite me in the ass later.

Mate, with all those spares you could easily end up in the positive. I'd say go for it!!!

I was going to add a caveat on that re. heating.

Would be interested to know how it goes. The info I have seen on the biofules forum was that most cooking oils don't get up to the range of diesel viscosities till 100-120oC.

I run about 20% diesel into the WVO to help sort that....

I have the exhaust shielded to the left hand tank which is where I run my WVO from, there is a dedicated heater up on the front that runs directly from the cooling system and the filters for the WVO supply side are near the exhuast manifold.

I went and had another look today.
The bloke had made a bit of a mistake with the gear he had and scrounged up some more too.
The S3, dated 1/82 was a bit rougher than I remembered- some more dings and bending on the rear crossmember, bashed fuel tank, smelled damp inside, seats rotten and was really dirty inside. The bloke's father used it as his wood getting vehicle. Apparently he could fit 90 cubic feet of firewood in there! The chassis had NO rust at all. The engine was oily and I couldn't see where it was coming from. The guy said that the first and last time he drove it, 3 years ago, it would jump out of third going down hill. How big a problem is that to sort out?

In there back was a plethora of parts and I have no idea what is what.

The engines consisted of 1 complete petrol and 1 complete diesel and 2 more blocks and various heads.

Lots of parts here. See anything interesting?

    Plus 1 salisbury diff/axel wheels.

    $1000 all up.

    dead easy
rebuild the supplied spare box and then install that.

if the spare injector pump I spy is in one of the pics is in working order new those things are over 1200 each.

How many do you want, those butterflys are evil powersapping mistakes of engineering. I took mine off. If you need vacuum then a vacuum alternator or 12V vacuum pump is a much better idea.

Looks like a good haul. Late model 2.25D engines are the best, as the metallurgy of the crank improved as did the injector pump. They also had a special sump and 1" thick alloy baffle between the sump and the block to reduce noise.

that plate wasnt only a noise thing but it added strength to the block as well as a windage tray to prevent frothing of the oil.
