    Massive Help, Thanks Mate.

    Next Question: Is there any way to take apart the indicator stalk. I seem to have developed a short somewhere, causes smoke and excessive heat lol, dont want to get to the next step of fire.... but cant seem to get the thing apart to get to the connection in question???

    The helps been great, keep it coming. Sorry no pics of mine either, camera packed it in... :-(

    Gday Everyone,
    Thanks so much for all your replies! They have all been a great help.

    Well I had another day of procrastination today... The good news is that the dash is almost totally reassembled (havnt had that much progress since ive had the thing lol). Ended up buying a new indicator stalk (they see ya coming with that one $$$). But this seems to have solved all the electrical gremlins i was having :-).

    For those wondering, I actually have a workshop manual (2 actually lol). I find im more of a pictorial learner though, dont always understand the manuals lol.

    Ho Har's - Ill have to pop in some time (actually spend a bit of time round Beenleigh/Windaroo).

    Back to the shed for a few more hours me thinks :-)...

    NEXT QUESTION!!!

    G'day again everyone,
    Well next problem and next question!!!
    Im having trouble bleeding the brake and clutch systems. I think it is because it is a totally new system; master, slave, lines, and there are air locks developing stopping me from bleeding it in the normal way.

    SOOOO....
    What are your tips/secrets/magic for bleeding a totally new brake and clutch system???

    the theroy I have heard is you park them on a realy steep hill for a day or so the air runs to the top...............

    Hmmm, thanks for the suggestion...
    Few probs with that though:
    1. No rego - cant park it on the street or a hill
    2. No brakes or clutch - cant move it anyway
    3. Its all air at the moment, so not sure how it will move to the top lol.

    Heres the rub so far...
    Got the old boy to help me (attempt) to bleed the brake and clutch system after i finished installing new everything today. Tried the traditional method of pipe off bleed nipple into jar of fluid, fill reservoir, pump pedal slowly. Fluid in reservoir did not go anywhere??? Fluid seemed to be sucked from jar into the bleed nipple.

    SO THEN.... we tried to 'bleed' the cylinder only so as it was full in an attempt to draw fluid from the reservoir. I was very disappointed when still nothing happened.... Im hanging out to do laps of the driveway lol.

    Any other suggestions???

    The normal way for brakes is go from pass rear to driver rear to pass front to driver front

    But try going the other way then back it worked for me on my old morris I once had

    If its sucking fluid from the jar u still have air

    As for clutch I normally undo nipple and let it start to drain and once I get fluid I then go back to the normal way of pumping and bleed etc etc etc

    The problem seems to be that there is so much air in the system and the fluid is not even being pumped through the master cylinders???

    Ill ring my mech in the morning, see if he has any little tricks....

    You may find it easier to reverse bleed in these circumstances - make up a container with a sealed lid with two openings which can withstand a little pressure - I use a jam jar. one opening has a tube to the bottom, the other a bicycle tube valve.

    Fill with fluid, then have a (preferably transparent) hose from the tube to the bleed nipple. Slightly pressurise the container with a bicycle pump and then open the bleed nipple. Make sure the reservoir does not overflow or the pressure container get empty. (A new oil syringe may help to remove fluid from the reservoir - do not reuse bleed fluid)

    Other hints - for the brakes, back off all adjusters completely before starting. Use brake hose clamps to isolate where the problem is. Remember that you can bleed at any union, albeit this gets a bit messy. Clean up any fluid on paintwork immediately before it takes the paint off.
