    New Game

Some of you may have seen the thread in the general section about me going to get a new Game. Well it is home now so I thought I would post a couple of pictures. This one is a 1977 whereas Clancy (my existing one) is a 1978. The number on the Id plate of this one is 211 where Clancy is 282.

General condition is ok, the chassis appears to be rust free and the body is pretty good. Interior is a bit shabby and needs some work. The door trim is missing on the drivers side and the passenger side is a home made job. Interior hood lining is dirty but appears to be whole and should be good with a clean. It has a roof rack with ladder which could be useful.

Things that look like they are different from the factory rather than later changes -

Selectro free wheeling hubs, Clancy has AVM.
Seats are not "deluxe" as in they have no stitching even though they are black vinyl. Maybe the lack of door trim also means it wasn't deluxe?
Bonnet has the hollow for a spare but no hardware to attach it. Clancy has no hollow at all.
Rear door has no spare wheel holder and there is none on the back of the bulkhead behind the seats. Clancy has both of these. It looks like there may have been a swing away type carrier that has been removed to fit the ladder for the roofrack. For now the roofrack is the only place to store a spare.
The rear bumperettes are different. They may have come that way or they may have been cut down from the type that is on Clancy.
Mirrors are probably after market. The mirrors on the guards are next to useless but I can't say I like these much and they are screwed to the doors so will leave holes if I take them off.

So there is some work to get it really good. I have a new set of seats and door trims on the way from the UK thanks to the good value of the Aussie dollar so the ones that are in Clancy now will probably end up in this one.

I think I will have to fix the leaking hub at the back and the leaking front swivel seal and maybe some other oil leaks to get the roadworthy done and the brakes need adjusting or bleeding, not sure which yet. Engine seems pretty good, head was reconditioned not long ago and made suitable for unleaded.

Probably need to finish everything off on Clancy first though .

One other interesting thing about this car is that it is registered for 5 seats. This is despite the fact that it has no seatbelts in the back at all. It has one of the side facing seat frames that is not even bolted in and it is somehow registered to use that.

Hi Tim nice rig, should be up and running in no time.
From what I have seen of the Game land rovers in the last 10 years there is a difference between 77 and 78 vehicles.
The dished delux bonnet is 77 whereas 78 is just delux
Swing out spare carrier is 77 whereas 78 is door mounted
My 77's seats are original and are plane as are quite a few 77 models i have seen.
The bumperetts are original on yours, however they seem to have had a section removed for off roading so they are 1/2 bumperetts
The only other difference I know of is the rims, chunky looking on 77's and more sunraysia on 78's my 77s say made in Japan over a few months.
Hope this helps, as I am in no way a Game authority these are just observations from over the years.

In some sporting circles, three games make a series. What do two series games make?
Looks the goods Tim. One for you, one for the boss now there are only two more to go.
