    And then there were two...

Well one good way to procrastinate when trying to write essays is e-bay , here's what I found...and bought. Just don't tell my parents, they're still trying to convince me to sell the first one.

So if Blue is your bedroom, Red is your living room? Looks like a good buy, interesting rear crossmember though!

Haha, well it could be but since Blue broke down I moved in with some friends as few weeks back. The first job is to pull the gearbox out of Red and put it in Blue as it has been rebuilt apparently which will give me a running car again and a bit of time to work out what will be Red's fate. Perhaps a size upgrade for my house.

And sorry Ron...I re-read the rest for spelling grammar but forgot the title and I can't change it now...

I picked it up tonight, all went well and I certainly don't think I got ripped off. The gearbox was completely rebuilt for some serious money in 2006 to full synchro spec by a reputable company so I'll be flogging that out of it which is the only reason I bought it really.

From the brief look in the dark tonight after unloading her the bulk head looks in need of a reasonable amount of work, the chassis looks solid all round, especially at the back where the rear cross member has been replaced with that very serious looking thick bar. The door tops are beyond saving and but apart from a little bit more rust in the seat box and no breaks (they supposedly just need bleeding) there are some great points about her. The 186 sounds good though it could probably use a tune up, the body is very straight and it's red Angry Red not fast red. Up until 2006 the owner was spending serious money on her so hopefully there aren't too many surprises.

I already have the short wheel base project which is still deep in the pipeline with a 200TDi still to go in, (eventually a 5 spd box) and then turning it into a camper. I would love a LWB project and I am most likely taking 6 months off next year to work on the SWB so the earliest I could even consider beginning any work would be this time next year and I would have to get her back down to Vic.

So now for suggestions on what to do with her:

    Options are:
    1. keep it for parts
    2. keep it for another project both require somehow moving it back to Vic.
    3. sell it as is with my broken (still not sure what's wrong with it) gearbox
    4. sell it with a working gear box
    5. attempt to get it registered if the rust isn't as bad as I think and then sell it
    6. part it out (did I just say that)

And yes I'm already thinking up good excuses to keep her.
