Engine & GB Going In Together.

I've described the conversion of the GB chassis crossmember to a bolt-on in another thread.

To convince myself it was worth it, I re-mounted the bulkhead and attempted to fit the engine/GB assembly in one hit.

It put up a bit of a fight & scraped off some paint but it worked. NOTE: the passenger side GB mounting bracket must be removed to decrease the profile height thereby enabling it to fit between the 2nd x-member & lower edge of the bulkhead.

The procedure was to go in tilted at about 45 degrees then level it when the crankshaft pulley clears the 1st x-member.

It would be very hard without a lifting jig & a load leveller.

A garage jack to get the tail up at the end was handy too.

be a lot easier without the bulkhead or with a bolt in gearbox cross member.
