			getting parts from the uk

As parts are hard to get sometimes and can be quite hard to source locally it seems nearly impossible not to go searching for parts from the UK.
For those of you who have done this and have been satisfied with the quality and service from certain dealers would you please share with me/us with any extra information as possible. I am about to get a list and do some searching as i will be getting stuck back into it over the next few months....hopefully

					Hi Tony,
I found these guys on ebay
LAND ROVER DISCOVERY 1 200/300Tdi - Coolant Expansion Tank to`98 (PCF101590) | eBay
that is just one part i was looking for but you can easily go to the ebay store and find other parts.
I havent ordered from them yet but have very good reviews and i found that i would save a lot of money buying parts from them. if you buy multiple parts you just wait before paying them and they combine freight so it saves you even more.
ill give you an example. i sourced the parts i need over here in perth and for a serpentine belt tensioner the lowest price i found was $127.
for a coolant expansion tank i found local one for $61.
so total if i buy the parts here is $188
if you buy from that UK store the tensioner is about $92 inc international post.
the expansion tank is $48 inc post. $140 total and could be even less with combined post.
saving $48. yea you wait a little longer for the parts but if you have time seems worth it to me.
its sad that we need to source parts from overseas and everything here so expensive but in the end its every man for himself.
hope this helps.
Larry
sorry tony i thought you were in australia. seeing as this is an aussie rover forum. not sure about sweden and parts costs but this UK supplier seems to be fairly cheap anyway and theres the link you asked for as well.

I've used Paddocks, Craddocks and Dingocroft, as well as fwd.com.au, roverparts.com.au and AllFourx4.com.au over here. Had great service from all of them. If I have one complaint about Paddocks it would be that there packing of the parts is pretty shoddy, but having said that nothing has arrive damaged or missing. Dingocroft on the otherhand must employ a perfectionist for their package dept as its a work of art.
Buying from the UK makes sense if you have multiple items to buy as postage is often as much as the parts, and its often the same parts as listed here (ie Britpart/Bearmach) for much less.
But often once you take postage into account its as cheap to buy from suppliers over here.
My general rule is if an Aussie price is within 10-15% of overseas I'll buy from here.
Sometimes though if its a specific part you need made from Unobtainium you just buy it from whoever in the world has got it!!!

I used to use dingocroft when I was in the UK as they were in my town
Now I'm here I use roverparts if I'm in a hurry, but if I can wait on the postage I use berkshirelandrover as I used to work with the parts manager, service manger, both service techs and most of the custom build techs.
Parts manager is called dean, if you say fonfe sent you their way you should get a little bit more discount

I'm thinking of blowing some frequent flyer points in the new year and going to the old dart and visit a few suppliers. I spoke with Col Radford a few weeks back and would like to see his shop. I'm a sheets by trade way back so have more than 1 common interest. I could source pack and send lots of goodies.
