    Side Skirts

    Hi All,

When I purchased Roger (my 1960 SWB Series 2) he did not have his side skirts attached, however they did come with the car.

I have cleaned, sanded, painted and re-assembled them - but during assembly I noticed that each side skirt only has 2 brackets attached.

However - there seems to be the facility for a 3rd bracket to be installed - but as mentioned above, BOTH of my skirts only came with 2 brackets fitted.

Should there be a 3rd bracket?

Here is a before picture of the skirts - before I did anything to them:

You can see that on both skirts, the bracket at one end is missing. Is it meant to be like that or am I missing a bracket on each side?

    Can anybody help please?

(As the skirts were off the car, and the car is now in pieces, I am not sure if I am missing these brackets or not?)

As always - any help is greatly appreciated!

    Your not missing anything!!,,.

I have had the opportunity to look through my shed, and I cannot find any loose brackets, I did find some that are attached to deep sills/skirts, but I don't want to separate them.
Having said that I had a look at the parts book, it lists bracket as part No 330389>>x4 on 88" or 6 for 109". I do own a S2 Comm/Recon so I had a look underneath, it has 2 brackets on each side, the sills are attached as shown
this is the front (LHS depicted)

you can see that it attaches to the base of the bulkhead and has 2 x 1/4"UNF nuts n bolts washers etc, they are 3/4" in length.
This is how it attaches to the rear,

same deal 2 x 1/4"UNF etc etc, I didn't bother taking images of the brackets as I thought you will be able to work it out, just remember that the short section of the sill is at the rear, it lines up with the trailing edge of the doors, hope thats of some help, cheers Dennis
ps look at those unpainted bolts, they will have to come out and be painted, dunno how that happened

    Hi Arthur,

Mate - the brackets only arrived on Monday! I have to sand them, paint them, take before/after photos... All of which I plan to do this weekend!

The actual skirts won't be going back onto the car for a few months yet...

Still some work to do on the engine/chassis - a lot of work now that I think of it!
