    Swivel Housing

    Hi All,

How do people clean the surface of their Swivel Housing? I am talking about the chrome ball surface

I think mine are probably just dirty and at worst maybe some minor surface rust.

I was hoping to clean them in situ - I dont really want to pull them apart!

So as a first point of call - any suggestions on cleaning them?

    Any advice greatly appreciated!

    Cheers,

I did mine with, from memory, emery paper and a wire brush in the pitted areas to get into the little runs of rust in the surface. I filled any pits with epoxy resin, then emery-papered the surface smooth.

I have no idea how effective this has been, as the vehicle has hardly been crossing deserts since then. All I can say is that it has stood up very well for a year or two sitting in my shed.....
