Series seating options for tall drivers

I had the privilege to take a 88" ute for a spin yesterday. Was an absolute hoot driving through some twisty roads at 50kph

However, I did realise something, my 6'3" frame is slightly cramped in there and was wondering what other taller drivers have done to remedy this issue.

My first thought was to remove the seats and put in some S1 style seats (ie hardly no padding).
I was thinking of options, modify existing seats by removing half (or more) of the foam from both the base and back or get some thin profile seats off another model vehicle.

I have the stock Series 2a seats and already have a seat adjuster set back to the maximum, and dont have the rubber 'door stops' screwed in the back frame either.

    Any suggestions or workarounds welcomed!

    Cheersm

    6'3" eh?

Get yourself cut off at the knees.

IMHO I think you have covered all possibilities but as you have only have so much space then I don't think you will ever fit. Maybe swap it for a LWB a fit the seats in the back. Oh hang on, your arms will be too short. Scrub that.

Friend of mine, at 6'7", drives his SIIa 109". The 109" has a little bit more room than the 88".

From reading other threads (pommy land), looks like some people have modified the tub bulkhead behind the seats to make it more like the 109, slanting from the base and moving the top 3" or so. Major work tho and really dont want to modify like that, AND want to keep the 88" - so ill start with the seats first then.

Just leave it as it is, and drive it. You will probably find you will get used to it, and it will become comfortable. I am around the same height as you, I found the 88 very cramped when I first drove it, but got used to it and wouldn't change it now. Removing door top will help a lot though, it gives you room to spread your wings.

    Cheers,
    Mick.

Mick - sensible approach - I tend to over think things at times but you're spot on. Shall leave and see how we go.

If you have a fat arse with a bit of padding then just take the seats out . If you got a boney arse then you are in trouble - a blow up roid donut might be the go.

Not sure if it will work in a Civvy Series but have a look at how seat backs are done in a Lightweight . The seat backs are simply a piece of 50mm foam covered in Vinyl & clipped to the bulkhead .

Despite appearances its very comfy. Over unexpected bumps I feel it more in my bum tham my back !
