SupporterHi. Hoping someone can help. I have a 1950 LBG chassis number 06110180. The Heritage certificate doesn’t say it was a CKD but it has some anomalies that make me suspect that it was. This is my first post, so thanks and hopefully someone can help.
Was it an Australian model, reimported back to England? If it has always been in England, why would it be a CKD?
If you don't like trucks, stop buying stuff.

SupporterThanks for your replies. Yes I have re-imported back to England. The BMIHT certificate states that it’s destination was Grenville Motors Ltd Sydney and that it was green, build date 3/4/1950. Why l am a bit confused is because it looks to me that the body etc have never been off a least not for a long time and the (original?)colour is an orangey yellow. The other thing is going by the chassis number it should have the early seats but the tub has the fixing holes for the later ones. The build date is about a day before the seats changed and chassis number is really close to the change. This is what makes me think it may have been a CKD because I have read that they were sent in batches and not assembled as they left the factory (if that makes sense). Which makes me think mine got the later tub. Can anyone throw any light on why it is orangey yellow? Thanks for any help.
Are there any unexplained self-tapped holes in the firewall or radiator panel where dealer's instruction plates ( similar to these ) could have been fixed ?
The holes don't usually line up with factory fitted plates.

SupporterIf it was despatched to Grenville Motors in 1950, I would assume that it was CKD, as by that date most going to Australia were.
The changeover dates/numbers for Landrovers are not terribly reliable, especially for CKD vehicles.
Worth noting that, I think as early as 1950, most Landrovers supplied to the Australian Government were delivered painted an orangey-yellow (rescue orange). I could show some pictures of them I took in 1959; except the pictures are black and white! (colour changed to yellow in about 1960)

SupporterThanks John. Definitely originally orangey yellow, so could well be ex government. Tried to find some pictures on line but no luck.
Cheers Mike
