Series Landy EV Conversion 6 years on

Nothing new here , just a compilation of clips from the last 6 years , 30,000km

Next week marks 6 years since I completed the conversion. Has been my daily driver since, Still loving it, novelty hasnt worn off.

Not trying to convince anyone , its just a video on what it is .

Great video, thanks for that. Curious, are you happy to share the cost of the build? It’s fine if not.

6 years ago, all new parts , $22k , off the top of my head motor & controller was $7.5k , 28kwh of battery was $11k , I think the VASS engineering was covered in the 22k too.

Could be cheaper now using salvage EV parts. If I was to do another I'd probably use a Nissan Leaf motor and go direct to the transfer case .

I didnt do it for Return on Investment because if I'd kept the petrol engine it would not have become a daily driver, but hypothetically if I did the $30,000km on petrol @ 20l/100km = 6000l x $2.00 = $12,000 so half paid off in petrol savings. The battery should be good for about 200,000km , another 25,000km it will be break even , after that the next 150,000km (30 years) its all a bonus.

Thanks for that. The leaf idea is a good idea. I hadn’t thought of that

Leaf conversion is all the go now, the motors are 150kw / 350nm with 100% torque from zero, . The batteries are still the expensive bit. Shabs Piercy (Synchro gearboxes) is putting one in a Series one as a development project and I expect will be selling kits .

I suppose it's too much to hope that the lunatic at 07:28 was identified and fined heavily?

Great video - and a wonderful vehicle. Thanks.

    funny you mention.
It was actually a lot closer than it looks because of the wide angle camera lens. number plate is legible.
I posted that near incident video in the Local falsebook page & the exact same car nearly wiped out someone else at same intersection a few weeks earler then it caught attention on a news reporter & somehow ended up on a News site with a newscorp logo on the video which I took objection to as they stole my video & put their logo without permission , and hid it behind a paywall. video was subsequently removed when I pointed that out.

Interesting. Did the video ever end up as evidence in the hands of the coppers?

Hello mate, love the video on your EV landy. I'm going to convert my 63 Series 2a to electric and found your post via Google.

How much of the land rover running gear did you use? What did you take out/keep?
What would you different now after 6 years of new tech has come on to the market?

Here's my little beast up here on the NSW Central Coast...
