TJM bar recovery points

I have fitted recovery points to my TJM bar however I cannot get shackles through as the bash plate that comes with the bar butts right up against the holes in the recovery brackets....
Any ideas how anyone else has dealt with this? Just cut holes in the side of the bash plate?
Or remove the plate?

Any pics,mine has the TJM bar,but i can't work out what you mean.
Had my bash plate galvinised as the powder coating pealed off.
Mine has the standard recovery point,TJM heated it up & bent it down slightly,i can get a shackle through it,have used it a few times,no probs.

Standard recovery point? Heated and bent?

There is no factory recovery point, just a towing point...

Just concerned you may be using a mount which isnt safe to pull from.. (Dont want anyone to get hurt )

My Tjm bar never came with recovery points, dont think they do? i ( re designed) a few things to suit.It did take a bit of work and they function well. This would look rough on a good looking clean not so off rd orientated d2.

Jeez Baffle that number plate looks like its seen better days! No speed cameras gonna be tagging you!
The recovery points are non standard same as most have put on however the bash plate similar to yours came with the bar, I will need to cut it me thinks... I will get a photo!

Remember that these D2s have air-bags and legally, the bar has to be mounted correctly on crush cans, so the recovery points will have to be on the chassis , not the bar!

For my TJM bar, I ended up making up two recovery points based on the ARB units. They are made from 1/2" thick plate. They bolt inboard at the chassis/bullbar mounting bolts. The biggest problem in designing them was getting the recovery eyes low enough as the TJM bar has a very low skirt at the front. Increasing the length of the recovery point bar increases the shear onto the mounting bolts, so a trade off must be found. I must admit they have not been used in anger yet. They will be used with a bridle to spread loads etc.

I dont think that TJM do recovery point on the bar itself. I have the TJM winch bar. In the pic attached you can see that I have added 4X4 Intelligence brand points directly on the rails aft of the crush cans - together they way about 3kg...!

I just made one out of a bit of steel based on the 4x4 intelligence ones. Was a bit rough took about n hour but has saved me a fair few times. Have had the entire car hanging off it more then once and no sign of moving
