Another day - another Puma issue

Gee folks - I know I'm starting to sound like a broken record, but the old Puma is back to its pattern of reliability again. Engine management light now permanently illuminated.

Its kind of manically assuming - as, because it's taken LRA near on 3 weeks (and counting) to get a replacement steering box and front Uni joint, good 'ol Warren- T- Ford has managed to find another way to let me down in the interim. Guess its better than having the first 2 issues fixed and another failure cropping up 2.5 weeks later.

    It is - isn't it????

Now - I know this warning light can mean many things - and the engine drives as usual and sounds fine - so can I drive it to Austral or do I need a tilt tray?

Hi Scallops, Sorry to hear of your greif Can you get hold of an OBDII scanner to see what the DTC code is??

    Tim

PS I'm off to see about trading in my 110 in today, not sure on what yet. The continual reliability issues are one thing, but LRA's habit of twisting the knife is the real killer.

    I feel for you.
I have had the same issue with the light (finally fixed). My concern would be that the dealership would not honour the warranty if anything further went wrong with the car while being driven with the warning light on. That's the impression I got from my dealer anyway.
    Good luck.

Scallops if it the engine light is now on and staying on...but everything is working fine I would bet my bottom dollar its your EGR valve same thing happened to me when driving on the M5 probably about 6 or 7 months ago..just popped up out of the blue.

My Egr was faulty and they had to replace it......don't stress it mate It will be nothing.

    Good luck.

The best thing you can do in that situation is tell them its on tell them its driving fine and ask them if they wanted flat bedded or not. I had several instances when my light was coming on for other reasons and then went off after several starts..dealer at the time said keep dirving it if it feels ok let us know if it comes on again...they were very good about it...

If you inform them and let them make the call then your covered

Update - light gone out. The vehicle drove as per usual even when it was on. I'll be getting Austral to check the error log. Looks like these vehicles are voodoo prone...

We have a fleet of D Maxs at the company I work for. Plenty of issues with them and engine light coming on and going into limp mode has been common. New defenders are not the only car with issues

Heya mate - I love Rovers - I'm a member of 2 Land Rover Clubs! I was just posting to see if I could still drive it - to get it fixed.

    How is yours coming along?

I drive a Ford Ranger (AKA - Mazda BT50) at work, engine light comes on all the time, apparently EGR related. To start with I used to report it to fleet services and have it fixed, but it is so common I just ignore it now and it goes out - eventualy.

The problems that I have experienced with the Ranger certainly don't stop there ! but it is good vehicle.
