    Swivel pins torque settings

    Hi All,

Anyone know that the torque wrench setting is for the nuts that hold the swivel pins in on a pendent steering arm set up?

Are they the same as the late SIIA/SIII with non - pendent types (50 - 65lb)?

Cant seem to find any mention of torque settings in the SII workshop manual.

So far I have about 100 thou of shims and I havent even got anywhere near that before it locks up.

All a parts are new, they are pressed in correctly and and sweep seal is not fitted.

Torque settings were virtually unheard of except for cylinder head bolts when the manual was written (and few owner/mechanics would have had access to a torque wrench) - use the same as the later figure.

You can expect to need more shims when new parts are installed, but note that it may be necessary to check that the shims are distributed between top and bottom so as to ensure that the swivel housing is aligned with the ball.

    Thanks John,

Will make sure that I put equal shims top and bottom.
