    Floorboard screws

I had to remove the floorboards from my Series 2 to overhaul the clutch slave cylinder and found a mixture of bolts holding things together. After grinding the heads off some that had rusted solid I need to get some replacements.

At the door end they were slotted, mushroom headed screws 1/4 UNF. Those that screw into the spire nuts were a mixture of slotted mushroom head and hex (both with an Acme type thread)
I think they should all be slotted mushroom or was there a mixture ?

The parts manual isn't much help as it lists the floor panel 'assembly' detailing quantity of bolts, some listed as 'special' but no real clues as to the type used.

I think you are correct Colin about the mushroom-head ones.

I bought new ones from Paddock,

    Cheers Charlie

Should be slotted mushroom head with acme thread going into spring steel speednuts except for the front edge and outside edge. These should be 1/4"UNF sherardised going into captive nuts at the front edge and into nut, washer, spring washer, on the outside edge. All have "mudguard" washers (either sherardised or glavanised) under the heads.

The front captive nuts have usually seized, been cut off, and replaced by normal nuts and washers.

    Thanks guys,

Four Wheel Drives keep the Acme slotted mushroom headed screws so I'll get some from them.

I have a supply of hex head Acme threaded bolts, were these used on the Series 1 ??

Hi Colin, I bought a set of these a while back in stainless, and I never used them.

There's a set of 40 stainless 3/4" pozidrive screws, with 11/16" stainless washers, and ZP spring steel speednuts.

    If you're interested, PM me.

    Peter
