i removed my TJM side bar/step as it bent when i slid into an embankment and destroyed the sill, i ended up making my own rock sliders
these were probably fitted 10+ years ago....they may have changed their design

SupporterHas any one fitted up a tjm winch bar and scrub rails to their puma?
Was just about to order a winch bar for my new 130 and get a set of side rails custom made as arb won't do a set of side rails for a defender. When I noticed that tjm do a full side step/scrub bar setup, the photos look like they are a neat fit, but I'm wondering how strong they are and would they hold up if used like a rock slider?

I have not use TJM before but they look just as good as ARB.
I wouldnot rely on them for use as rock sliders they just don't have the strength in the tube size or in the mounting points.
Get in contact the Daniel from Mulgo for a set of his sliders then have a set bush bar custom bent to fit the bar and sliders once fitted.
Cheers
I've fitted the TJM T13 Bar to my 2012 110 defender the bar fitted well and I'm happy with it and a bought a new set of side rails and scub bars thats another story they came complete with scratches and different clamps than what were show on their web site. I've tryed to fit them twice the chassis
brackets didn't line up with the holes in the chassis and the scrub bars are to long so instead of cutting them and wrecking the powder coat I've repacked them and I taking them back.

Got both the bar and rails. Very happy with both! The rails are NOT sliders, but will support my 100+kg standing on it with minimal flex. Having said that they do make entry significantly easier for my wife (@ 5'0"), so for that alone well worth the price in my books!

I too had both, also had the same experience as weeds. Vlad Tepez also had the same.
The bbar is fine. It's the side steps, they flex easily if you happen to drop the car on something.
I thought it wouldn't happen to me, but yep, bent sills and scrub bar even kissed the guard leaving a small dint.
I actually have my old set floating around if anyone wants them.

Made my own steps/sliders up as the only ones I could find needed the sills removed and SWMBO was too vertically challenged to take the off. All I need to do now is design some side bars to suit

SupporterThanks for the advice, based on talking with some guys in the industry, this forum and a good no damage strike rate with them, I am going with an arb winch bar, and mulgo sliders and will hope that the Roos dodge the front guards! May look at fabricating up some scrub rails to join the two together if I can get the right design.
Linky linky for those considering designing your own scrub bars.

I realise now that the my title for this thread above will limit searches somewhat.
They have held up well to tea tree pushing, roo bouncing and brace the bar and winch much more than you might guess. Single bars on defenders look naff for some reason?

Good call I'd say. Check with Mulgo first as he can supply brush bars as well, however could not supply me sliders with brush bars to fit my BBar. LR bodge tolerances cause him to much grief and he wanted the car to make sure. Maybe ok for you in Canberra, but I live in Brisbane.
