The 110 is gone, so what now?

Due to an unfortunate accident our 110 and the corolla that hit it have both been declared total losses. The good thing is that no one was hurt. The bad thing is that now I'm defender less and considering my options. ...
The 110 was the best vehicle I've ever had by far buuuut in the almost three years I've had it and 75000 ks I've had three rear diffs, new clutch, three egr valves, vacuum pump, two sets of swivel hub seals, numerous pinion seals and transfer box rear and front seals and numerous other small niggly problems.
I confess that yesterday I took a 76 series wagon for a spin and although its expensive, boring, emotionless and less capable off road than the defender it felt strong and solid. Have I fallen under the Toyota reliability marketing spin and is a 76 wagon going to have as many warranty items on the list as mentioned above or am I right in having reluctance in going in for round two with another 110??

Sorry to hear about your loss. But isn't it great you had all the faults all replaced by the manufacturer under warranty probably with no questions asked. As driver said good luck getting a fault with a Toyota or Nissan fixed so easily but I assure you the faults are just as many.

Workmates 79s wagon is less economical than his maloo ute! He is wishing he got a late model D3 or early D4.

Yeah you're right, The dealer has been great. I couldn't fault the service they've given me. And a plus is that I have driven almost the entire land rover range and all it's engine variants while I waited for mine to come back from the shop numerous times. I just find it strange that its acceptable that I'm on a first name basis with my service manager.

Better than being ignored... like my father who bought a new Toyota LC and has nothing but grief trying to get the multiple problems fixed under warranty..

I think by the sounds of it, unfortunately you've had a "lemon".
My late 2011 Puma has had few problems, and I'm sure the newer ones are probably even better.
I cant really comment on the new Toyo's etc, but I would think LR is still the benchmark for everything else.
When I bought my new Toyo a few years ago, within 5 months the diff went. On first inspection by the dealer, he laughed hard as he said I was going to be up for a few quid to fix it,,, the tables turned very quickly when I told him how old it was Me being me, was not afraid to use a new car for its intended purpose/build, thus he was looking at one very dirty car, and just figured it was out of warranty,, haha, didn't he have to suck eggs

Tough blow, hopefully the insurance company doesn't give you any grief.

This is a land rover forum... so yes get another 110!

Photo ... what does a 110 that's been written off by a corolla look like?

    After starting with Landrovers I had a 15 year stint of Toyotas, FJ45 BJ40 HDJ80R HZJ105R then back into my current Td5 110 .

the only Toyota that came close to being as economical as the Landy was the BJ50 but it was totally gutless, the 80 series had almost as much grunt as the 110 but used 2x the fuel.

none were close to the Landy in 4WD ability. , (but were reliable until the big bang)

That said if I lost the Landy I would not be looking to buy a new one, but would find another Td5 Wagon.
